AND THE CHILDREN WILL BURN
Directed by Rodrigo Dorfman, Written by Ariel Dorfman, Produced by Not Public Property
Running Time: 13:40
Based on Ariel Dorfman’s poem and story about two children who play “waiting for the enemy” under the shadow of a dictatorship, "And the Children Will Burn" translates this situation of terror to undocumented children hiding in a safe house somewhere in the New South. Migration, terror, machismo, hope and identity are some of the issues explored through the eyes of these children, who like so many, have to grow up too quickly in order to survive. Today, we unfortunately stepped from the metaphor into the real. And the Children Will Burn is an act of cultural resistance; a call to action that reminds us that if we do not stand up, our children will burn. Literally.
